MOVIE REVIEW: THE HUNGER GAMES - MOCKINGJAY (PART 1)

Image
Jennifer Lawrence plays as Katniss Everdeen, duh! So when Katniss destroys the games, she goes to District 13 after District 12 is destroyed. She meets President Coin who convinces her to be the symbol of rebellion, while trying to save Peeta ( Josh Hutcherson ) from the Capitol. So is the movie any good or are they are merely riding on the Hunger Games hype? THE GOOD The movie continues directly after what happen when Katniss destroys the game. The cast and crew after many movies together, we can feel that they are comfortable with each other as the acting becomes more personal towards the cast. Other than that, we are told the back story about uprising on different district and how it all went down after Katniss awoken the rebellion. Katniss still gets you to believe that she can shoot arrows and it is shown in this particular movie.  THE BAD The show is a melodrama of 2 hours without getting anything back. It feels like a slow paced Korean drama at one point an...

MOVIE REVIEW: PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR

Image
The penguins are BACK! I watched the penguins with my jumping kaki at Tanjung Golden Village  cinema, One Utama! The show was absolutely epic with the penguins doing what they do best. The 4 penguins, Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private join forces with undercover organization The North Wind to stop the villainous Dr. Octavius Brine from destroying the world as we know it.  THE GOOD Purely entertaining! That is what the show about, the penguins will definitely keep you entertained throughout the whole movie. You will also laugh your ass off when they meet the North Wind who is consider to be an elite group consist of, well as you guess it, MORE ANIMALS! The storyline is pretty linear and it does not take much of a thinking. Jokes are ample in the movie and you will be surprise how well some of it blends with your current situation, or the situation that you have been in before.  THE BAD Some of the jokes can be pretty hard to digest for the younger ki...

MOVIE REVIEW: JOHN WICK

Image
You will understand why the tagline for this show is Don't Set Him Off when you watch this movie. John Wick ( Keanu Reeves ) takes the leading role in the show. He is an ex-hitman who is now on the mad run to hunt to track down the gangsters that took everything from him. Which is his, dog, yeah you read that right, his dog. The dog was the final token for him from his dead wife and some gangsters just decided to kill it. Stay classy stupidity. THE GOOD Keanu Reeves is back. The role that he hold doesn't not have much to talk but lots of action with guns. I have no idea you could actually kill someone with the gun so many ways. There is also a specific atmosphere in the show that makes it so intriguing. The characters in the movie for example the CLEANER and the owner of Continental both plays a cool mysterious character. There are places that makes you think if it really exist in the world. The show is actually quite funny at times with humours does not seem so forcef...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE EQUALIZER

Image
Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) plays the Equalizer from the classic TV series. He was meant to lead a quiet new life till he meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz) in his everyday diner. Her employers are an ultra-violent Russian gangsters which torture her when she refuses to work. McCall took matters to his own hands and eventually everything became interesting for the Russian gangsters. THE GOOD  If you are in for a good Hollywood fighting movie, I will assure you that it is much to see in this movie. Throughout the whole movie, the use of guns from McCall is very subtle and almost non existence. As usual, the character McCall was brought to life by none other than Denzel Washington with his ever excellent performance of emotions when he needs to. Chloë Grace Moretz also did lots of justice with her character as Teri, the way she portrays it is totally different on what she used to play in Kickass.  Most of the time you are just sitting on the edge waiti...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY

Image
Saw the trailer for this movie and instantly told myself that I have to watch it, therefore I drag gf along and without thinking it through book for 9 pm movie at TGV, 1 Utama on a Friday (I know, genius) but that is also because no other cinema is showing this show. Parked my car like a bawse and then ran straight for dinner at 8.15 pm and rush through everything, almost choking on my wantons. We were in the cinema sharp at 9 pm and the movie start shortly after everyone stood up and sang "Negaraku". The movie talks about Papa Kadam (Om Puri) who brings his family to Europe after his culinary empire in India suffer losses from a vicious attack from losing election party which also took the life of his beloved wife. Trained under her mother before her death, culinary extraordinaire, Hassan Kadam (Manish Dyal) followed Papa Kadam together with the rest. It all started with the brake malfunction and helped by Marguerite (Charlotte Le Bon) which leads them to a small town,S...

MOVIE REVIEW: Godzilla

Image
For the longest time, Godzilla never had the best Hollywood rendition with the last being 1998 where the most prominent part of the movie I remember was the homeless guy who told his friend that he caught something while fishing and it turns out to be Godzilla which terrorize the city suddenly, all hell breaks loose. Fast forward to 2014, Hollywood once again try to bring Godzilla back to life with the cast of Aaron Taylor Johnson as Ford Brody, Bryan Cranston as Joe Brody, Ken Watanabe as Dr Ishiro and Elizabeth Olsen as the wife of Ford Brody, Elle Brody under the direction of Gareth Edwards. They succeed of making so far the best rendition of Godzilla that I have watched so far (not that watched that many, yet) THE GOOD Embark on an emotional train ride featuring Joe Brody as his tries to prove his sanity to his son and also the government that whatever took down the nuclear reactor and his wife's life years back is not a seismic wave like what the public thin...

MOVIE REVIEW: Captain America X Winter Soldier

Image
Watched Captain America: Winter Soldier last week in Gsc therefore thinking of writing what I thought about the movie (caution: non professional review ahead) I am not really a fan of Captain America but I think the story that is written for him is entertaining and Marvel manage to bring out the best in him although merely a super soldier (I'm sure you knew by now). I will not touch specifically on the universe of Marvel and how Captain America plays a role in there, if you really need to read about it, here you go: http://bit.ly/1gI5OmF That being said, I shall rate the movie on Outline, Characters, Music, Flow of Movie. This being the first official review that I have written for the past 2 years, I will be adding things when it is necessary. Here we go: Outline.  Captain America is once against in the limelight  as he is getting used to the modern day living while battling the Winter Soldier from the olden era. That being said, there is also S.H.I.E.L.D f...

ANDDDDD I am BACK!

Image
Took me 2 years to retrieve what has already been lost, the passion of me writing a movie reviews (actually wrote 1 only lel) I will try to update this space once or twice every week, as I have watched tons of movies in the previous weeks. Basically, this is also to keep track to how many shows I have watched and which cinema basically. I watch my shows at Tropicana City Mall (TCM), 1 Utama (1U) and occasionally Setia Walk or Sunway Pyramid. Most of these reviews is based on personal preferences, therefore it is solely based on what I feel throughout the movie. My favourite genre is basically action, thriller, and also something Nolan type basically mind-f**ked. p/s: this is a blog, therefore certain form of "bahasa pasar" will be used, I write like   I talk mostly and most of the entry are written using a phone when I commute. LEL.
