MOVIE REVIEW: JURASSIC WORLD

Image
The park is now open. That is the sentence means a lot of Jurassic Park fans as the movie as in the year 1993. Jurassic World is a fresh take on Jurassic Park 22 years later with cloned dinosaurs and they tried to clone the ultimate dinosaur to be introduced as a new attractions to raise the park visits and also profit. Since my friend feedback that my rating of 5 stars is too tight, I will be giving out 10 stars instead so the rating is not tight. Jurassic World deserve a solid 7 out of 10 stars, and below I will tell you why.  THE GOOD Over the years, technologies became better and it is reflected in Jurassic World's Computer Generated Images (CGI). The dinosaurs now seems to be more convincing than the previous animatronic used dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. Besides that, Chris Pratt has propelled himself up to become one of the A lister in actors with this particular show. Once again, he shows that he is good a playing diverse roles and even better if it involves some so...

MOVIE REVIEW: SPY

Image
What happen with you have Jude Law, Jason Statham and Melissa McCarthy in one movie? You have a 2 hours of extreme fun but not in the form of a slick, fast and dangerous spy but instead a normal operator who got promoted to a spy which is what Melissa McCarthy does as Susan Cooper. This movie deserve a solid 3 out of 5 stars not in terms of action, but in term of their dialogue and all the funny moments in the movie make it actually not that bad, hey it is even rated quite high in IMDB .  THE GOOD If you are looking for a comedy, this is something which is better available in the cinema as of now. Jason Statham is ridiculously funny in this movie with his retarded hard headed attitude which he always think that he is the number 1 spy. McCarthy on the other hand is an absolute joke and not a spy material but she proves everyone wrong in this movie as she nailed her job nicely with a questionable profile. The dialogues are also quirky and the jokes are absolutely hilarious ...

MOVIE REVIEW: MAGGIE

Image
Arnold Schwarzenegger  return to the big screen not as the Terminator but as a father who is battling the hard truth that his daughter will be a zombie. The world is hit with an unknown virus and his daughter is affected when she got bitten by one of the zombie when she escaped house to the city. I will give this show a 2 out of 5 stars and will only recommend you to watch if you are interested in melodrama zombie film. I remind you all again this is not World War Z, therefore don't put your hopes so high. Read more to find out what I personally think about this movie.  THE GOOD Suspense is the biggest good thing in this movie. The main characters acting was okay and believable but suspense is everything. That is because you can't wait to see what happen when she turns into a zombie and start biting the hell out of her dad, Arnold. There are some good emotional feeling that Arnold brought into the movie, we somehow feel how hard for him to decide on killing his own...

MOVIE REVIEW: SAN ANDREAS

Image
San Andreas movie did a spectacular effort in picturing an earthquake to hit California. It is those disaster movie like The Day After Tomorrow but since it is now in 2015, the whole CGI just gotten better and much more believable. Once again, Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock played his role as the lead and the father well and convincing enough for the big screen. I will rate this movie a 3 out of 5 stars. Proceed if you want to know more about what I think was good and also bad in this particular disaster movie. THE GOOD For starters, the show has truly pretty good CGI. Throughout the whole movie, lots of CGI are used and it seems pretty damn convincing for me. The explosion, the shakes and also flooding seems like well done and certain part of it they made the extra effort to be do it on the studio. Other than that, Dwayne Johnson once again show of his acting skills to the audience with his role as captain and father. His daughter, played by Alexandra Daddario and wife by Carla ...

MOVIE REVIEW: TOMORROWLAND

Image
This movie review is based on 30 minutes after the movie started because I was asleep. Yeah, that is how boring this movie was and I am going to make this review as short as possible because I am afraid of sleeping while writing this review. So, should you watch it? Yes if you are a fan of Disney and their magical bullshit, I give this movie 2 out of 5 stars. If you bother to read you will know why, if not, it's okay, I am asleep by then. So here we go:  THE GOOD Whatever technologies and the alternate universe that they envision was actually quite interesting and makes you want to know more. That is because you will be given a token when scouted, when you touch it, I transport your soul to another plane of universe which is fun to watch as the main character wonder what is going and if she is going crazy just by touching the coins. Surprisingly with heavy weight actors such as Hugh Laurie and George Clooney , I find the acting of Raffey Cassidy who plays Athena the su...

MOVIE REVIEW: MAD MAX - FURY ROAD

Image
I will say it now before you read the spoiler, that this is one of the shows that you should watch. When I first saw the trailer, I am pretty sure that it is going to be one of those forgettable action movie with good casts in it but this movie proves me wrong. Many time in the movie, I was desperately biting my nails figuring it out what is going to happen next, so if you are up for some good action with lots and lots of explosion and many WTF moments, this movie is for you. I gave this movie 4 out of 5 stars , read ahead for spoilers: THE GOOD This movie is not your regular run in a mill action movie, it comes with great story line and incredible acting which at times resonates with my inner feelings. The whole freaking show is like a orchestra of actions with so much action and the pacing really keeps you at the edge of your seats all the time. The cast that was put together was also pure bad ass, hands down for Charlize Theron as Furiosa and also Tom Hardy as Max made up ...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE AGE OF ADALINE

Image
This movie is a must watch if you are a fan of Blake Lively, which surprisingly I am. I didn't know I was that much of her fan till I watched this movie. The Age of Adaline tells a story of a girl who is unable to age after a freak accident happen to her. I would rate this movie a 3 out of 5 stars as I personally feel there are still some part which are lacking in. Read all about it below, and as usual  SPOILERS ahead:  THE GOOD What can I say about Blake Lively, she is really really pretty. The amount of dresses she wore in the movie is really awesome. She has the figure to fit into any dresses and still make it look so damn blardy good. Her acting are much better compare with the time she is in Green Lantern, the only good thing from that movie was she got married to Ryan Reynolds. Other than that, Harrison Ford acting in this movie is spectacular. So convincing that at times, I feel what he is feeling. The main actor acting was just okay, didn't hav...

MOVIE REVIEW: AVENGERS - AGE OF ULTRON

Image
The second installment of Avengers is actually tad bit disappointing. I guess I expected way more than what was shown in trailers. I personally bought it the movie with IMAX 3D hoping it will be a good movie. You will want to watch it to get to witness some cool superheroes in action but if you coming in for the plot or storyline, expectation please be low.  SPOILERS AHEAD! THE GOOD The whole movie is one cool arena of gadgets and also flashy superheroes power. I personally like that they have showed the combination of power of different superheroes, the likes of Captain America's shield and Thor's hammer creating a super shockwaves was indeed epic. If only they showed what Iron Man and Captain's shield can do. The superheroes suit is all modded and looks really good. The appearance of much awaiting Hulk Buster was also an epic moment. It was worth it watching 3D for that particular fight actually as we seen parts being flown in particularly to fix the a...

MOVIE REVIEW: CHAPPIE

Image
Based on IMDB : In the near future, crime is patrolled by a mechanized police force. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself, or we can say that 2 genius programmer created  2 types of different robot to help the police force. One is scout which goes by the name Chappie, created by Deon Wilson ( Dev Patel ) and the other Moose which is created by Vincent Moore ( Hugh Jackman ).  THE GOOD Robot with a feeling? This show portrays it nicely and at times I felt like there are ninjas cutting the onions at some scene. I was thought lots bout morale and manners strangely not by the main character but instead but the so-called thugs which was names are not even in the poster. Dev Patel played his character really well, showing how much flexibility and how much have he grown from his previous movie but sadly, his acting was overshadowed by Hugh Jackman's desperat...

MOVIE REVIEW: KINGSMAN - THE SECRET SERVICE

Image
Like the title, the show is about a spy organization recruits an unrefined, but promising street kid into the agency's ultra-competitive training program, just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius. The street kid, Eggsy ( Taron Egerton ) whose dad died in the final Kingsman examination takes on the training under recommendation by Harry Hart, or better know as Galahad ( Colin Firth )  THE GOOD Lots and lots of gadgets which will put James Bond to shame. The show here such sophisticated but gentleman technology that we all came across but never wondered if it could become something more, I mean a bulletproof suit. That's just plain gentleman cool. The fighting scene was quick, intense and plain brutal. It just felt so stylish, cool and a bit weird seeing people with full suits move so swiftly and agile. They also impress me with their gun play in the movie. I meant come on, english movie, there aren't so much action or close quarters using gun but...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE HOBBIT - BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES

Image
So, directed by Peter Jackson , Bilbo (Martin Freeman) and Company are forced to engage in a war against an array of combatants and keep the Lonely Mountain from falling into the hands of a rising darkness. Thanks IMDB for summarizing it for me but basically this is the final of the Hobbit saga therefore you should be watching the previous two, unfortunately I have not written any reviews for the movie =/.  THE GOOD Anything which has started must come to an end someday, and this trilogy tells the story not perfectly but well enough for you to link it back to the Lord of the Rings. The fighting scene was fast paced and truly exciting couple with the ever so nail-biting fight scene towards the end. There are also the fight which features Saruman ( Christopher Lee ) and Elrond ( Hugo Weaving ) defending Galadriel ( Cate Blanchett ) from the 9 human ghost. We are also able to witness the power of Galadriel and the early rising for Sauron.  THE BAD ...

MOVIE REVIEW: GONE GIRL

Image
As much as the show titled like someone lost their kid, it is not the case. Let me assure you that Gone Girl can be in the same category as MINDFUCKING because what you see is not always what you get.  Imdb comes out with the movie summary: With his wife's, Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) disappearance having become the focus of an intense media circus, a man, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) sees the spotlight turned on him when it's suspected that he may not be innocent. Together with his twin, Margo Dunne (Carrie Coon) he tries to uncover the true secret that his wife been hiding all these time.  THE GOOD If there is someone to admire in this movie, Rosamund Pike will be the one to watch. She really carries the roll of Amy Dunne crazily good and with that you will embark on a journey on crazy together with her. It scares the fuck out of you knowing how crazy someone can be. The story was beautifully written and the acting was so convincing that you will wonder what som...

MOVIE REVIEW: PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR

Image
The penguins are BACK! I watched the penguins with my jumping kaki at Tanjung Golden Village  cinema, One Utama! The show was absolutely epic with the penguins doing what they do best. The 4 penguins, Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private join forces with undercover organization The North Wind to stop the villainous Dr. Octavius Brine from destroying the world as we know it.  THE GOOD Purely entertaining! That is what the show about, the penguins will definitely keep you entertained throughout the whole movie. You will also laugh your ass off when they meet the North Wind who is consider to be an elite group consist of, well as you guess it, MORE ANIMALS! The storyline is pretty linear and it does not take much of a thinking. Jokes are ample in the movie and you will be surprise how well some of it blends with your current situation, or the situation that you have been in before.  THE BAD Some of the jokes can be pretty hard to digest for the younger ki...

MOVIE REVIEW: INTERSTELLAR

Image
Honestly, I think my review will not do justice for the latest edition of mindfuck by your one and only Christopher Nolan . This is his only show for the year and I am really glad that is because the amount of thoughts and mindfucking in the show makes me feel like I need to sit back and just take time to fill in the gap. Slowly figuring out what happen, if you are fan of Inception , rest assured this movie will keep you accompanied in that department. A short summary by IMDB mention that "A group of explorers make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage".  Cooper  ( Matthew McConaughey )  left behind his 2 kids, Murph ( Jessica Chastain ) and Tom ( Casey Affleck ) under the care taking of his father in law, Donald ( John Lithgow ).Cooper will lead a team of 4 each with their own expertise and together with a military robot named TARS to find another h...

MOVIE REVIEW: JOHN WICK

Image
You will understand why the tagline for this show is Don't Set Him Off when you watch this movie. John Wick ( Keanu Reeves ) takes the leading role in the show. He is an ex-hitman who is now on the mad run to hunt to track down the gangsters that took everything from him. Which is his, dog, yeah you read that right, his dog. The dog was the final token for him from his dead wife and some gangsters just decided to kill it. Stay classy stupidity. THE GOOD Keanu Reeves is back. The role that he hold doesn't not have much to talk but lots of action with guns. I have no idea you could actually kill someone with the gun so many ways. There is also a specific atmosphere in the show that makes it so intriguing. The characters in the movie for example the CLEANER and the owner of Continental both plays a cool mysterious character. There are places that makes you think if it really exist in the world. The show is actually quite funny at times with humours does not seem so forcef...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE BOOK OF LIFE

Image
Animation keeps getting better these days and resulting a much nicer experience and also laughter when watching one. The Book of Life speaks about a fairy tale love where 2 guys, Manolo ( Diego Luna ) and Joaquin ( Channing Tatum ) tries to capture the heart of Maria ( Zoe Saldana ). The gods put their bets on either one to marry Maria and thus set one of them off to an adventure span on three fantastic worlds. THE GOOD The animation is beautiful. Everything inside the show feels like you are playing "Little Big Planet" . It really takes you on an adventure and the acting on all fronts are good. The voice acting couple with the singing and dancing really keep you feel touched and feel like dancing. There are some parts where you just keep wanting to know more what happens next. THE BAD There are some part which I feel just there to be prolonged the movie. There is lots of things to absorb at one point and also with cartoon, you cannot think so much. The girl...

MOVIE REVIEW: DRACULA UNTOLD

Image
Before Twilight there used to be a breed of vampires which are the rulers of the night. They are fast, silent and powerful. They drinks humans' blood. They can never face the sunlight as they will die as the sun shines on their skin. Then came freaking Twilight, a fail breed of vampire obviously written while the author is busy smoking up and reading some romantic novel at the same time thus human perception of vampires started to change with their all girly manner and also glitters while they are under the sun (srsly?). Disappointed.... I ran as far as I could and hid myself in the cave just so the memories of a real vampire stuck with me. Then Dracula Untold came. This story tells a tale of Vlad Tepes (Luke Evans) and his family ruled over a small kingdom with peace for a century. However, when a ruling rival king, Mehmed (Dominic Cooper) with a growing army demands from Vlad the first born male of every family to join his army. Vlad made a pact with the dangerous supernatur...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE EQUALIZER

Image
Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) plays the Equalizer from the classic TV series. He was meant to lead a quiet new life till he meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz) in his everyday diner. Her employers are an ultra-violent Russian gangsters which torture her when she refuses to work. McCall took matters to his own hands and eventually everything became interesting for the Russian gangsters. THE GOOD  If you are in for a good Hollywood fighting movie, I will assure you that it is much to see in this movie. Throughout the whole movie, the use of guns from McCall is very subtle and almost non existence. As usual, the character McCall was brought to life by none other than Denzel Washington with his ever excellent performance of emotions when he needs to. Chloë Grace Moretz also did lots of justice with her character as Teri, the way she portrays it is totally different on what she used to play in Kickass.  Most of the time you are just sitting on the edge waiti...

MOVIE REVIEW: A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES

Image
Every now and then you watch a detective movie hoping it to be something Sherlock Holmes (TV Series) but time and time again you will be disappointed. A walk among the tombstones tells a story of a retired police, Matt Scudder (Liam Neeson) who is now an unlicensed private eye who got roped into a mystery murder of drug traffickers wife's. Upon initial investigation, it seems like they kidnappers only kidnaps drug traffickers wife's or kids. THE GOOD The shows has the most creepy atmosphere ever when they reveal the kidnappers with their methods and it invoke the feeling of fear and helplessness for the victims. It also shows that how twisted a person's mind can be and what they are capable of. Come to think of it, sometimes I guess it is not about the money at all. As usual, Liam Neeson alone carries the show perfectly with his cocky method and also his drinking problems. THE BAD The pacing of the movie is super inconsistent. At times you get a super fa...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE MAZE RUNNER

Image
GF mention in her news feed that there are lots of people raving about the movie on their FB before we actually watch it and based on IMDB checks it shows a high rating of 8.3/10 and I would say it is as good as the rating is (well for me at least). Story tells a tale of Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) waking up in a lift with memories completely wiped except his name. The lift transport him to a place they call the Glade. The glade consist of 50 boys who lives there in the past 2 years surrounded by a 150 wall of solid stone. The wall opens in the morning and closes at night to protect them from Grievers. Everything went bonkers when an unscheduled delivery sent in a girl, Teresa (Kaya Scodelario) with a note and she recognizes Thomas. THE GOOD The story keep me wanting to know more (since I have not read the book), there is lots of actions and also emotional moments in the movie. Most of the part seems to have a good connection and flow which keeps your focus always in the...
