MOVIE REVIEW: LOGAN

Image
Logan was such a good movie to watch, the clearly used the R rating in this case and also the storyline takes a slow and depressing method to the very end. I shall go straight to the good and bad of the movie which I personally feel this movie score an easy 8 out of 10 stars for me.  THE GOOD Brutal and lots of limbs flying in this movie. The reason they rated this movie R is that lots of the fight scene involve people losing their limbs, half of their face and many other very graphic fighting scene. This is in sync with most of the comic about Wolverine where his fight is brutal, fast-paced and full of people losing their limbs. Aside from that, the storyline took a drastic turn to be very slow and character focus which is really good. The action and story played a vital role to ensure that you pay attention to what is to come. Somewhat, you are curious when will there be a next fighting scene and also what will happen in that particular scene. The introduction of X-23 a...

MOVIE REVIEW: MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN

Image
This movie was said to be from the book and based on the quick reviews I read on the book, nothing that special came from it. Apparently, the book was as boring as the movie. A ll I can say that the movie is pretty boring. That is why I would rate it a mere 4 out of 10 for this movie and will explain why below. Here we go:  THE GOOD Tim Burton, as usual, the visionary director thus the concept of the movie was fun. Every child has something peculiarly and it is interesting to see their backstory and how they are introduced. The concept of rewinding time is not something new but it was introduced very stylish in this movie. Aside from that, creating at time loop for that very day and just rewinding it before the end of the night is something kinda interesting for me (anything that is available to control TIME somewhat perks my interest, always). Not to forget. Eva Green played her character perfectly, someone strong, responsible and really no-nonsense caretaker. The ac...

MOVIE REVIEW: VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN

Image
Thanks  +ChurpChurp  again for this screening at 1 Utama  +Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) .  Frankenstein has already been told from 1931 (based on Google) and up till now we have no freaking idea how he looks like. Therefore in 2015, someone decided to remake Frankenstein with another rendition  of what he thinks Frankenstein looks like. Teamed up with James McAvoy (Victor Frankenstein) and Daniel Radcliffe  (Igor) they tried to tell a different perspective which is from Igor. I would just give this movie a  2.5 stars out of 5 stars,  and I will tell you why below. THE GOOD The acting was really really good. Both main characters carried their role so well that at times I personally felt that Frankenstein is real. I also like a whole total different plot from the original, this plot was because he wanted to revive his older brother who died back then. The movie tried explaining everything on how they found out the idea of reviving the de...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE WALK

Image
Thanks  +ChurpChurp  for the #Churpremiere of #TheWalkMovie in 3D which surprisingly was quite good to begin with. I will give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars for this movie.  Joseph Gordon Levitt plays Philippe Petit who is obsess with hanging wires along two horizontally tall objects and walking from point A to B. Basically he is a wire walker and all he does is keep challenging himself. Eventually he found images of the upcoming World Trade Centre and decided that he will hang his wires there and walk on it thus the journey begins.  THE GOOD Lots of back story on why he wants to be wire walker. We are actually exposed to every step and trial that he faces while he tries to conquer the World Trade Centre. Other than that, I felt the cast personally was well selected for the movie. His right hand man, Jean-Louis played by Clement Sibony was a nobody but still manages to carry his character as the supporting actor well enough. The show is all about susp...

MOVIE REVIEW: MAGGIE

Image
Arnold Schwarzenegger  return to the big screen not as the Terminator but as a father who is battling the hard truth that his daughter will be a zombie. The world is hit with an unknown virus and his daughter is affected when she got bitten by one of the zombie when she escaped house to the city. I will give this show a 2 out of 5 stars and will only recommend you to watch if you are interested in melodrama zombie film. I remind you all again this is not World War Z, therefore don't put your hopes so high. Read more to find out what I personally think about this movie.  THE GOOD Suspense is the biggest good thing in this movie. The main characters acting was okay and believable but suspense is everything. That is because you can't wait to see what happen when she turns into a zombie and start biting the hell out of her dad, Arnold. There are some good emotional feeling that Arnold brought into the movie, we somehow feel how hard for him to decide on killing his own...

MOVIE REVIEW: SAN ANDREAS

Image
San Andreas movie did a spectacular effort in picturing an earthquake to hit California. It is those disaster movie like The Day After Tomorrow but since it is now in 2015, the whole CGI just gotten better and much more believable. Once again, Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock played his role as the lead and the father well and convincing enough for the big screen. I will rate this movie a 3 out of 5 stars. Proceed if you want to know more about what I think was good and also bad in this particular disaster movie. THE GOOD For starters, the show has truly pretty good CGI. Throughout the whole movie, lots of CGI are used and it seems pretty damn convincing for me. The explosion, the shakes and also flooding seems like well done and certain part of it they made the extra effort to be do it on the studio. Other than that, Dwayne Johnson once again show of his acting skills to the audience with his role as captain and father. His daughter, played by Alexandra Daddario and wife by Carla ...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE AGE OF ADALINE

Image
This movie is a must watch if you are a fan of Blake Lively, which surprisingly I am. I didn't know I was that much of her fan till I watched this movie. The Age of Adaline tells a story of a girl who is unable to age after a freak accident happen to her. I would rate this movie a 3 out of 5 stars as I personally feel there are still some part which are lacking in. Read all about it below, and as usual  SPOILERS ahead:  THE GOOD What can I say about Blake Lively, she is really really pretty. The amount of dresses she wore in the movie is really awesome. She has the figure to fit into any dresses and still make it look so damn blardy good. Her acting are much better compare with the time she is in Green Lantern, the only good thing from that movie was she got married to Ryan Reynolds. Other than that, Harrison Ford acting in this movie is spectacular. So convincing that at times, I feel what he is feeling. The main actor acting was just okay, didn't hav...

MOVIE REVIEW: CINDERELLA

Image
Everyone knows about the fairytale story of a poor girl marrying a prince. All she needs to do was to believe and to be kind always even to her step mother who treats her like the house maid. This story was no different rendition from the fairytale that we all come to love/hate while we were growing up.  Master IMBD , summarise for us - When her father unexpectedly passes away, young Ella finds herself at the mercy of her cruel stepmother and her daughters. Never one to give up hope, Ella's fortunes begin to change after meeting a dashing stranger. Which basically means  Ella or Cinderella later ( Lily James ) fall in love with a prince, ( Richard Madden ) and hopes to marry him but was stop by the almighty bitchy stepmother, ( Cate Blanchett ) and her two daughter, Drisella and Anastasia who I won't even bother mentioning the actresses.  THE GOOD Everything about the fairytale was in the movie, from the super glassy heels/slippers, the almight...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE IMITATION GAME

Image
I never really like a movie which is solely based on a person's biography, that is because I always think of it as less interesting comparing to other movie. The Imitation Game proves me wrong with their excellent actors and also superb storyline.  During World War II, mathematician Alan Turing ( Benedict Cumberbatch ) tries to crack the enigma code with help from fellow mathematicians. THE GOOD Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing really takes you on an emotional roller coaster. He is assisted by Keira Knightley, who plays Joan Clarke, the love of his life. Both of them showed so much on screen chemistry and such convincing acting in their roles that we forgotten that this is actually a movie. Benedict Cumberbatch nail his role as a cryptography genius and also a weirdo almost so convincingly that I somewhat think that Alan Turing was him or his ancestors.  THE BAD The ending was badly rushed. That is because I guess most of the movie focuses...

MOVIE REVIEW: GONE GIRL

Image
As much as the show titled like someone lost their kid, it is not the case. Let me assure you that Gone Girl can be in the same category as MINDFUCKING because what you see is not always what you get.  Imdb comes out with the movie summary: With his wife's, Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) disappearance having become the focus of an intense media circus, a man, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) sees the spotlight turned on him when it's suspected that he may not be innocent. Together with his twin, Margo Dunne (Carrie Coon) he tries to uncover the true secret that his wife been hiding all these time.  THE GOOD If there is someone to admire in this movie, Rosamund Pike will be the one to watch. She really carries the roll of Amy Dunne crazily good and with that you will embark on a journey on crazy together with her. It scares the fuck out of you knowing how crazy someone can be. The story was beautifully written and the acting was so convincing that you will wonder what som...

MOVIE REVIEW: FURY

Image
Been a long time since I watched a show in IMAX and watching Fury was a good choice. Apparently, TGV did not show Fury on normal screening either. So yeah, just roll with it and I find myself enjoying the movie. Fury is the name of their tank, lead by Wardaddy ( Brad Pitt ) together with Byod ( Shia LaBeouf ),  Trini ( Michael Peña ),  Grady ( Jon Bernthal )  and finally new recruit, Norman ( Logan Lerman )   where their final mission is to hold a crossroad with shitloads of Nazi heading to their way. They are the last in the line and with a tank, they will hold the line. THE GOOD  Brad Pitt's acting as Wardaddy really brings out the emotions. Although he is getting old, his acting gets much better. The story starts slow and progress very well throughout the whole 2 hours and 30 mins timeline. The movie also makes you constantly on the seat because of the scenario and also shooting which happens all of a sudden. That one minute of silence and sud...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE GIVER

Image
What if you have no emotions. What if everyone is the same and your path has already been chosen for you. What if you all are actually programmed and brainwash to follow what is right for mankind. show centred among 3 characters, Jonas (Brenton Thwaites), Fiona (Odeya Rush) and finally Asher (Cameron Monagham). As they graduate from childhood, they proceed to adulthood where their occupation has been chosen for them based on their capabilities and also adaptation on how well they fare in their "internship". They will be given their occupation by the Chief Elder (Meryl Streep) and from there a Receiver of Memories will be chosen. The chosen will go under the training of The Giver (Jeff Bridges).  THE GOOD The shows leaves you with lots to think about. The idea of having a world where everyone is the same as one and another seems to possible at times. Acting from Chief Elder and also The Giver is exceptional with the help of Jonas's mother (Katie Holmes) which some...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE SUSPECT

Image
I was checking out previous year Korean movie that I miss and someone in the forum recommend this movie. I have no idea this is such an action pack movie from Korean because most of the time all they are known for is variety and also love drama. This movie tells a tale of a North Korean top spy, Dong-chul (Gong Yoo) who was abandon during a mission and his wife and daughter murdered. He escape to South Korea and took up a job as a night driver for the CEO of a powerful corporation. The chairman gave a pair of glasses to Dong-Chul before he was brutally murdered and now Dong-Chul is on the run to uncover the secret behind the glasses that was left for him after involvement from government official. THE GOOD The show itself is quick paced from the start. Think  of watching a Korean version of Jason Bourne. Less talk and more action from the start and Dong-chul acting role is so fitting for this action movie. The story is also shrouded with mystery because we need to know w...

MOVIE REVIEW: DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

Image
Watch the first part of this movie which is "Rise of the Planet Apes" where you will then remember some part in the movie since it is a sequel to the movie. The main character, Caeser, is still inside where he is the super smart chimpanzee to survive the experiment which leads to the a viral flu which wipes out almost the whole world populating leaving those who are immune to it. What you will experience is leadership at it's best, makes you question yourself will there be such leader in human where we respect and worship so much. That being said read on for the movie review. THE GOOD The story line and plot make sense after the incident from previous movie. We see Caeser grown to be a well respected leader and continuing to teach apes how to care for the other apes. As a leader, he cares for the apes and ensure that they are always safety. Lots of feeling moment as you will be surprise as the apes touch you more than the humans do. There is always a revisit of...

SERIES REVIEW: Arrow Season 1

Image
Arrow is such a fantastic TV series from DC. I was actually recommended by my friend and it took me really long time to download and watch. After the first episode 1, I was sitting through all the other 23 episodes in a one weekend. The scenario of a billionaire son, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) stuck in an island for 5 years after his yacht sank in the middle of the sea. Upon coming back, he change and try to be justice to his beloved city.  You will hear he said this for the X number of times:  Oliver Queen : My name is Oliver Queen. For five years I was stranded on an island with only one goal - survive. Now I will fulfill my father's dying wish - to use the list of names he left me and bring down those who are poisoning my city. To do this, I must become someone else. I must become something else.  I will no go through every episode with you, cause as usual that takes way too much time for me and for you to even read them. Mr Queen, assisted with his ...
