MOVIE REVIEW: THE WEDDING RINGER

Image
This is a show for the foreveralone, Doug Harris ( Josh Gad ) will be marrying the lady of his dreams, Gretchen Palmer ( Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting ). 2 weeks before his marriage, he has no best man or friends. So he hired Jimmy Callahan ( Kevin Hart ) CEO of Best Man Inc, a company which provides flattering best man for socially challenged guys in need.  THE GOOD The show is for the light hearted, lots of humours and also much bromance moments. The storyline sync perfectly with the havoc that is created by Kevin Hart and Josh Gad. These two clowns seems like they have been friend even before the show started filming. You can see lots of bromance and natural moments as we progress through the show. Kevin Hart single handedly carried the movie as his characteristic is simply natural for the movie.  THE BAD Like every other romance comedy, the end are much predictable. Besides that, they are some loopholes in the movie especially with Kevin Hart disguising to the be...

MOVIE REVIEW: THE MAZE RUNNER

Image
GF mention in her news feed that there are lots of people raving about the movie on their FB before we actually watch it and based on IMDB checks it shows a high rating of 8.3/10 and I would say it is as good as the rating is (well for me at least). Story tells a tale of Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) waking up in a lift with memories completely wiped except his name. The lift transport him to a place they call the Glade. The glade consist of 50 boys who lives there in the past 2 years surrounded by a 150 wall of solid stone. The wall opens in the morning and closes at night to protect them from Grievers. Everything went bonkers when an unscheduled delivery sent in a girl, Teresa (Kaya Scodelario) with a note and she recognizes Thomas. THE GOOD The story keep me wanting to know more (since I have not read the book), there is lots of actions and also emotional moments in the movie. Most of the part seems to have a good connection and flow which keeps your focus always in the...

MOVIE REVIEW: TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES

Image
For those like me, unker level. You will all remember that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (TMNT) was a cartoon which airs in the morning at TV3 (those were the days of good cartoons). Fast forward to 2014, there is a movie directed by none other than the 'legendary' Michael Bay. The only actor that is famous or so I think is Megan Fox who plays April O'Neil in the movie. The ever ready reporter, Vernon Fenwick (Will Arnett) who is wishing to resurrect her dying career and also believes that there is a vigilante who is fighting the Foot Clan. She pairs up with  Will Arnett who plays the cameraman, Vernon Fenwick who is constantly hitting on April and hoping one day she falls for him. THE GOOD  The show is light at heart. If you just look pass the errors and common sense, you will find the show stupidly entertaining. The jokes are well not that bad and some of the part makes you go like "WOT?!". Other than that, the fighting scenes are good, lots of ninja s...

MOVIE REVIEW: HERCULES

Image
Legend tells a tale of a demi-god named Hercules (Dwayne Johnson) who is the son of Zeus. He is blessed with super strength and also blessed by the gods. Famed after his twelve labours and thus the legend is born or not. Hercules is a mercenary now and travel together with his crew of 6 (just roll with it). Hercules is then summon to help the King of Thrace defeating a tyrannical warlord. THE GOOD If fighting and bonding is what you come to see then this movie is for you. Hercules feature lots of fighting scene which make sense since it a movie about a demi-god during the olden days. You will also see leadership and lots of Hercules in action and his leadership skills. Humor along the way is also present in the movie as we witness Hercules and his crew carrying his legendary status to a whole new different level. THE BAD The story does not have any gods down and help Hercules or against him. This movie takes the approach of Hercules in a more realistic way without an...

MOVIE REVIEW: DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

Image
Watch the first part of this movie which is "Rise of the Planet Apes" where you will then remember some part in the movie since it is a sequel to the movie. The main character, Caeser, is still inside where he is the super smart chimpanzee to survive the experiment which leads to the a viral flu which wipes out almost the whole world populating leaving those who are immune to it. What you will experience is leadership at it's best, makes you question yourself will there be such leader in human where we respect and worship so much. That being said read on for the movie review. THE GOOD The story line and plot make sense after the incident from previous movie. We see Caeser grown to be a well respected leader and continuing to teach apes how to care for the other apes. As a leader, he cares for the apes and ensure that they are always safety. Lots of feeling moment as you will be surprise as the apes touch you more than the humans do. There is always a revisit of...

MOVIE REVIEW: How To Train Your Dragon 2

Image
TOOTHLESS ISSSSSS BACKKKKKKK! This is a whole new reason for you to fall in love with dragons again! The first part teaches you about tolerance, love, and also synergy. The first movie show you if you believe in something and pursue it, good things will come from it. People will learn to not only accept that you are crazy, but also succumb to the fact that something awesome/crazy will comes from all that persistence. At the end of the movie, Hiccup managed to make dragon and vikings come together and work as a community (spoiler!) THE GOOD  Everything about the chemistry of Hiccup and Toothless makes you want to own a freaking dragon! The on-screen chemistry keeps giving you the jab on your bone which makes you go AWWWWW. The main character and the dragon seems to have lots of on screen time which allows you all to understand the bonding that they have and also what makes them so compatible. The types of dragons and also the ALPHA dragon makes you wonder what it is t...

MOVIE REVIEW: Oculus

Image
Sunday is usually boring as f, as most of my friends gonna stay at home and brave the Monday blues therefore I was thinking, why not I handle the blues by scaring the shit out of me, thus Oculus (actually I was dragged to watch Oculus, truestory.jpg) It started with a new house and a freaking weird mirror. I meant I love antique but the antique that they bought probably through craiglist or lowyat.net seems to be the most weird mirror every.  Everything was happy when they begin shifting in and slowly suspense starts. The dad spends most of his time in his room with the mirror and slowly we see changes in the family. The mirror which believes to be cursed tends slowly intoxicated the mind of person which is close to its proximity and also the radius grows bigger as time passes. The entity in the mirror seems to latch on living beings and slowly poison the thoughts and destroy the memories eventually turning him/her into a vessel.  The kids in the family, on...

MOVIE REVIEW: Non-Stop

Image
Manage to catch a movie on the weekend after I am back from Langkawi at Gsc Tropicana City Mall. This time it was Non-stop which someone rated higher than Captain America. Therefore, I was like let's watch this and Liam Neeson. Nuff said. Outline. Liam Neeson in his epic role on being a badass Air Marshall and also trying to do his best either hijacking or saving the planne without anyone dead. Badass much? Character. Liam Neeson portray as drunken Air Marshall which really seems to be in epic stress and lost all hope of life always. Aside from that, supporting actress and actor seems to be acting pretty well and not making it seems like a B grade movie.  Movie Flow.  80% of the action happens in midair. While 20% happen on land while the plane was taking off and landing LEL. Judging from the start till the climax, the pacing of the movie makes me hold my pee. Everything that is happening has so much suspenses that keep you wanting to watch and know more o...

MOVIE REVIEW: Captain America X Winter Soldier

Image
Watched Captain America: Winter Soldier last week in Gsc therefore thinking of writing what I thought about the movie (caution: non professional review ahead) I am not really a fan of Captain America but I think the story that is written for him is entertaining and Marvel manage to bring out the best in him although merely a super soldier (I'm sure you knew by now). I will not touch specifically on the universe of Marvel and how Captain America plays a role in there, if you really need to read about it, here you go: http://bit.ly/1gI5OmF That being said, I shall rate the movie on Outline, Characters, Music, Flow of Movie. This being the first official review that I have written for the past 2 years, I will be adding things when it is necessary. Here we go: Outline.  Captain America is once against in the limelight  as he is getting used to the modern day living while battling the Winter Soldier from the olden era. That being said, there is also S.H.I.E.L.D f...

ANDDDDD I am BACK!

Image
Took me 2 years to retrieve what has already been lost, the passion of me writing a movie reviews (actually wrote 1 only lel) I will try to update this space once or twice every week, as I have watched tons of movies in the previous weeks. Basically, this is also to keep track to how many shows I have watched and which cinema basically. I watch my shows at Tropicana City Mall (TCM), 1 Utama (1U) and occasionally Setia Walk or Sunway Pyramid. Most of these reviews is based on personal preferences, therefore it is solely based on what I feel throughout the movie. My favourite genre is basically action, thriller, and also something Nolan type basically mind-f**ked. p/s: this is a blog, therefore certain form of "bahasa pasar" will be used, I write like   I talk mostly and most of the entry are written using a phone when I commute. LEL.
