MOVIE REVIEW: JUPITER ASCENDING

The Wachowskis is back this time with a bigger much more science fiction kinda world compared to Matrix, but the big question remains is this better than the Matrix? It certainly is not, I can tell you that. This movie brings out a different feel from the usual Wachowskis aside from their absolute perfect graphics, the storyline has it flaws, lots of it.

Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along - her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

THE GOOD

The whole idea of different civilisation in other planets are absolutely stunning.  We get to see the lots of different kind of jaw dropping technologies in the movie. For example, the anti-gravity boots and the shield that Caine Wess holds in his hand is something really nice to admire. Not forgetting, the action sequences in the movie is fast and also action pack. I am truly impressed with Caine performance as he carries his roll as an ex-military hunter convincingly without any doubts or trouble. Jupiter Jones such glamorous name but Mila Kunis carried the roll as a normal peasant to princess without any issues.

THE BAD

I was really disappointed with the storyline, it had so much more to offer. The Matrix had such good storyline and also the progression of the movie was spectacular. This storyline falls short as we are taken to every planet, up and down a space ship, romance and shits like that we no connecting storyline. Everything felt like it was cut and insert forcefully into another frame of the movie and nothing seems to make sense. Please also get a better villian, half of the time I felt asleep after he started speaking.

CONCLUSION

Will I recommend to watch this movie at the cinema? Nope. Keep it for something better like The Imitation Game and trust me you will not miss a single thing. This particular movie was well thought of but bad execution. If only the Wachowski took another year to develop the movie THEN maybe we will get something much more polished.

TL;DR: Lots of action and technologies, but fall short in other department. Princess is a toilet cleaner by day, and own earth by night. So respect your toilet cleaners please.
